It was that late, I was chitchatting with this old comrade, Marauder, while we were talking, like Zen, of life, he told me to take this kinda personality test here http://www.humanmetrics.com/cgi-win/jtypes2.asp. Ouch. My trivial side’s tickled by that, then I did it. Afterward, knowing the result is even bursting my laugh. Well, some are definitely correct, but some, umm, you judge. Well, here is ‘me’ by the test :

I found the post above undebatable, haha, nah kidding, but honestly if I see back in what I’ve done and what I’m doing, I found most of em in a straight line. What’s even funnier is the list of people with same personalities the site summarized to me, those are Richard Feynman, Thomas Edison, Leonardo da Vinci, James Cameron, Patricia Schroeder. A Physicist with Nobel Prize of integral formulation of Quantum Mechanics, A truly Inventor whom every creature should thank, A super genius artist all the time, An awesome Director who beat his own world most-viewed movie record, and A bold Politician who was the first woman elected to congress from her origin. WHAT A COMFORTING FACT. HAHAHA. So, I am more-or-less a combination of scientist, artist, and politician to invent something that people will thank me to in the future. (SFX: Audience Booing) Geez, hahaha, sounds…like a prophecy, eh? (maybe they should put more fact that sometime people with these personalities are also slightly exhibitionist, hahaha).

Okay, next part is also amusing, Rational Women and Romance. (romantic music starts playing as back sound)

Rational women tend to be late bloomers on the dating scene. (SFX: Audience laughter) They are sometimes unaware of or don’t wish to follow cultural norms which dictate what is considered feminine. As they get older, men often appreciate their logic and general lack of emotional outbursts, along with the fact that Rational women tend to clearly state what they think and want.

This part is about the mate of people like me, hmmm.

Rational women are often perfectly happy playing the hard-charging corporate player to their mate’s more domestic lifestyle. Because women are socialized differently from men, Rational women are much more likely than their male counterparts to catch hints and indirect communication. However, they still prefer clear statements.

Rationals tend to be the easiest on upkeep. Their wants tend to be few, and they generally place few demands on their mates. My Souvenirs are My Stories

It’s quite an impulsive reply when my comrade asked me whether I wanted to buy a plane ticket to Thailand on last November 2010. I had no plan, no thought of my schedule yet, even I had never imagined of that country before. I meant, well I know that people say it’s fascinating enough but it’s not one of special destination to visit in those recent days. I nodded, anyway. It was a yes. After that, time flied. I had my mind filled with so many loads and routines, you know me so well, don’t you. None of the weeks was loose enough to get relax. All of sudden, I remembered to the flight that I had on my hand. Having this chance must be holistically used for any purposes, I thought to my self. Afterwards, I did look up to local model in Bangkok that wanted to do photo session with me. Viola! I got one man that was ready to explore, haha. Thus, my intention to the trip changed. I took this as a moment to widen my portfolio, in both photography and videography. Anyhow, it still ended up as a full of experience traveling after all. So, here we go.

*oops, a bit typo, it should have a single ‘l’ only actually. :p

It was a 8D7N journey from 19 to 27 April 2011. Occurring from Jakarta-Singapore-Bangkok-Krabi-Hat Yai-Penang-Kuala Lumpur-Jakarta, I’d highlight based on places I stepped.

The first destination was to Singapore, I had a transit there, quarter of a day, so not really much time to see lots thing there. After arriving on Changi Int’l Airport, the top of mind that popped up was obviously the prominent Merlion. Thus, I took a walk (well, some of MRT too) while bringing all my stuffs with me (45L carrier backpack, tripod and my camera bag) to Esplanade. However, the lion statue is quite far away from that stop. So, after a quite more long walking, I got to the landmark of Singapore. I was so upset because in fact, the statue was sealed, i didn’t really know what the reason was. So, I just took pictures nearby the surroundings. Hmm, well, at least, I made an attempt to reach you, Merlion.

Then the trip continued, after being more or less 3 hours over the land, at last I stepped my feet in the land of Thai. From Suvarnabhumi Int’l airport directly I went to Sukhumvit road by using the skytrain to Phrom Phong. Twas a loooong walk too, gladly, I used generator as my power battery supply. I stayed in Som’s Guest House (Sukhumvit 22, Klongtoey, Prakanong +6622591066). It was a really decent and nice place to stay, highly recommended for you who want to visit Bangkok. Well, it’s not as popular as Khao San area, but from this point it’s easier to reach more spots in Bangkok comparing to Khao San or Rambutri. Well, that’s how I got there, let’s talk about what I did there. :D
The next day is the day of the photo shoot. Some of my friends were surprised when I told them that I did the session all by my self. Come on, when you do traveling, no need to be that suspicious to the environment you pass by. Being aware is fine, but the over fear of the new area will vanish your curiosity to see more of other parts of our zone. Chillax, dude. Hahaha, so meet my super kind and lovely model that I kidnapped for the whole day, Mike Maitree Tangsatjit.

I met him, on the int’l social networking site, Interpals. What a place to meet up, eh? Hahaha. He’s a student of humanities : english at Srinakharinwirot University, besides modeling is also one of his interest. So, we pointed Benjasiri Park as the meeting spot (turned out we also did the warm up shot there). We did the photoshoot in Benjasiri Park, somewhere near Sukhumvit Road, and a mysterious destroyed area nearby Lumpini Park. Here some of the results.

Having the chance to have a photo session with Mike was a bliss experience. We also shared stories and talked about things. Based on Aldous Huxley saying, to travel is to discover that everyone is wrong about other countries, and it was somehow correct. Media constructed people point of view to almost everything, the only way to emphasize and confirm all of those is by communicating with the subject brought. The topic I will remember for once was our talk about America. Mike said, “Never look America as a country that you cannot reach, it’s just a country, it’s not like a Porsche, it’s a country that similar to another countries.” Yes, a confession, I overlooked America, hahaha, it probably sounds moron, USphobia, hahaha, but he gave me courage to destroy my limit, to free all the hesitancies. Anyway, we also talk of many other things, too many to be precisely mentioned, at last, it was so fun to do the session with you, fella. See you in another chance. :D

Still in the same day, at night, my former seniors who currently are working in Thailand (Koh Tao to be exact) poked me and asked me to meet up in order to the offer of an all you can eat sushi treat! What a kindness from the lads. So, from Mike’s place in Thailand Culture Center, I rushed by Subway (MRT) and skytrain to Siam Discovery (parts of Siam Paragon) to reach the boys. Here we are, me, Boris Anggoro and Randy Wilmar.

After being full with Japanese loads, they brought me to the heaven of backpackers over the world (also the heaven of my eyes and desires, hahaha). They lead me to Khao San and Rambutri Area.

KHAO SAN, CHAOTIC! I guess that’s the word to describe this road. So many peeps, so many stalls, so many activities, so many music, so many many many things happened here. Interesting, but overhyped.

See, from the Pad Thai stall, feet massage, face sketching, till a room to make love (kawin in Bahasa-red), lol. There are so many entertainments provided in Khao San and Rambutri area. The difference between them is in Rambutri you’ll find a chiller situation, jazz music, people enjoy more in talking than dancing while in Khao San is vice versa, ultra hectic.

Anyway, I heard that all of these riots will be closed at 02.00 AM. The Bangkok’s cops will take over the area and shut down all the activities. Coolness. Above all of this pleasure giving stuffs, regulations are still being on top. Ah, anyway, in here I sipped a bit of Thailand’s local beer named Leo. My seniors said it actually is usually given to the teens who start drinking beer, but IMO, it tasted nice. For whom like beers, here’s a suggestion, Chang Beer tastes so bitter, a lot bitter than Bir Bintang. Leo or Singha taste much better. In Thailand, the price of beer is quite cheap, and you can even find it in every seven eleven over the country.

On the next day, I again visited Siam Paragon, but with different objective, this time I watched the IMAX in Krungsri Cinema. It was EPIC. I called it visualgasm. I watched “Mars Needs Mom” in 3D. I did enjoy the time. For whom has interest in cinematic experience must make a shot to watch any kinda movie here.

It costed me 300 Baht for the medium level seat, the higher the seat the more costly the price will be. The utmost top will cost you for 400 Baht. Well, it’s all worth enough for having the time watching the 70mm tape film played in front of you. Here is the interior of the Krungsri IMAX Siam Paragon Bangkok.

Moreover, in spite of being not so into indoor shopping center, after discovering the massive mall in Siam, I also left my traces in a decent medium sized mall near my guest house, Emporium Mall. I bumped into exhibitions in this place, the first was about design from era to era and the other one was about game, its history and development. Both of these two exhibitions were awesome, the displays, the installations, the light placements, they all were arranged so well.

They have the display of DJ HERO! Gosh, I scored 93% and almost perfect in playing that virtual installation. I bet I had the talent, hahaha.

Okay, so, before leaving Bangkok, let’s take a peek of Bangkok at night. Here the first one, I took these from the sky train station in Phrom Phong. :)

Enough glance staring in Bangkok, the center of Thailand, now I’d share you stuffs I brought from the South. One word to sum the south : BEACH! :D

I left Bangkok and headed to Krabi, the south part of Thailand. The trip was by bus and took approximately 12 hours. Twas a nice hibernation moment after all. Arriving in Krabi, I directly bought the ticket trip to Phi-Phi Island. Actually, Phi-Phi is located in Krabi Island, so it’s not so far in reaching the well-known fancy beaches there. So, are you ready to see the gorgeous places there? Here we go.

BAMBOO ISLANDS! Look, everybody is having good time in the ocean. From the granny till the young lady, from the white skin people to the darker one, no difference, yet one exact similarity, having fun! :D

LOHSAMAH BEACH! The color of the ocean is sooooo beautiful. Anyway, to be honest, here are some of my perspectives, as the matter of fact, in one side it’s true that Thailand’s oceans are beautiful, however, when we are talking of the sea decoration, I could bravely say that Indonesian’s own more varieties in sea decorations such as corals, sea creatures, and elses. However, still, I enjoyed snorkeling there. Bliss.

MAYA BEACH! I love this stop. It’s one o kinda beach that I like, not that populated, not that huge, but fit enough to enjoy the time reading book or taking people’s portrait.
I also went to Phi-Phi Don for resting then continued to Monkey Bay for another snorkeling. I got burnt! hahaha. But, no issue on that since I gained much more interesting stuff from the Phi-Phi trip.What I serve you below this are pictures I took in Aonang Beach, not far from my residence in Krabi, Aonang Grand Inn. Actually, it’s probably quite anti mainstream while most of other visitors prefer Phuket as their south destination, yet I chose Krabi. To be frank, Phuket has its over popularity. The local driver in Bangkok even told me that beaches in Krabi are the most beautiful place all over Thailand, utmost numero uno. Well, if you still doubt it, go take a peek of what I brought here :

Not far from Aonang Beach, I found a mysterious cave that led my curiosity. At first, I thought it was a monkey cave, but turned out it wasn’t.

I decided to climb up the stairs, man, it was exhausting. It merely took about half an hour to hike and meet the other edge of the road. But, out of the blue, my heart beaten harder seeing what a captivating private beach I encountered.

So excited! :D Then after being satisfied by the nature paintings, I back again to the Aonang Beach (through the piles of stairs that I previously passed by, no other way). After that I relaxed on the beach, stared to people’s activities, mostly sun-bathed. While I was chilling and doing nothing, someone struck my mind. Yes, you can call me pedophile whatsoever but this young boy teased me, uh, perhaps he was curious with my camera. He played hide and seek behind the trees while staring at me and throwing smile like there’s no tomorrow. The smile was so gorgeous. Well, I was teased, and directly pointed my camera to him. Eventually, I found out that his name was David, he’s a mixture of Australian and Thai. While I was capturing him, his younger bro, Alexander, came to us and attempted to also pose for me, well, here they are, David and Alexander. What genuine faces kiddos have. :)

I love em so much. It’s quite funny because they don’t speak English but German. However, see how multilingual the language that my camera spoken? hahaha.

Spending the whole time there, I didn’t realize that it got late and dark. Not willing to miss the chance, I tried to capture several moments in the dimmed natural light.

Can’t get enough of the beaches actually, but the trip must go on. I spent three days and two nights in Krabi, what an experience it was. In the early morning of April 25, I should continue the trip to Hat Yai then Penang. I used mini van, and it took me about approx. 3 hours to Hat Yai. Just a glance visit in this border town of Thailand and Malaysia.

It’s an ordinary town with its citizen usually speak in two languages, Thai and Malayan. From Hat Yai to Penang took me about 5-6 hours. Usually, the time consuming occurred on the passport checking while leaving Thailand and entering Malaysia.

Through my journey in Thailand, I can sum up that it’s a nice country. The places, the people, and the living cost are so decent. Afterward, traveling is about new friends making, aight? So, here I introduced you with my new acquaintances.

They are Hannah and Matt. The story of meeting them is so weird yet hilarious. In Bamboo Islands, there was a woman who all of sudden rushed to me and asked me for a hand. She wanted me to assist her in taking her picture with her partner. I sincerely took their picture, twice it was, and she said that the pictures were perfect. What a coincidence, that I ran into the woman again in the mini van I used on my way to Penang. What a great moment. When we remembered each others again, I imagined there should have been confetti opened and drum rolled, because it was so dramatically hilarious. So, speaking of em, they have travelled for a month. Before doing the trip, they taught English in South Korea for 2 months. After that they traveled to China, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, then gonna continue to Singapore and Indonesia (Bali) then back to their home town in Michigan, USA. It was so nice to get along well with both of them. We talked about past-present-future and many other interesting stuffs. (Oops, this is a guilty pleasure confession, I even taught them about the language used in Malaysia that sometimes have completely awkward literally meaning). I do hope to meet this couple again, for sure, it will happen in their home town. :D

Okay, they are a Chinese Malaysian couple, Lim and Wang. They own a travel agent, and was on trip to Thailand just for escaping through the routines. They were so nice and friendly. I did speak a bit Mandarin with them, since my skill of it has decreased significantly. hahaha. Lim is originally from Penang, he told me several places to peek in Penang, but unfortunately I got not that much time to spend there, however, let’s move to Malaysia.

This was my second visit to Malaysia. The previous time, I spent most of the time in Selangor and KL. In this visit, I spent only 2 days, and they were all rushing with time, so actually I didn’t see em that much. Let’s begin with Penang. Actually, Penang has so many great sites to be sight-seen, but as I told you, got not much leisure thus I got few captures of the town.

Finally, I could have Indonesian’s food here. Ah, this is an important thing, nothing beats Indonesian’s dishes. Hahaha. Well, it could be the tongue factor but still they tasted sooooo yummy.

The next day, I had to travel again to KL. I took the bus and it was 6 hours on the road to reach KL from Penang. Arriving in KL, I directly took another bus to the KLIA, because I had to catch for my flight back to Jakarta. Having all things arranged, the check in thingies, I had to say goodbye to all of these escapism moments.

I arrived on Soekarno-Hatta Int’l Airport at 1.30 am, and guess what, I got back sitting in the class directly in the morning at 8.00 am. Well, welcome back routines and realities. :’)

In the end, traveling is not just about the money or the place you’d stay, traveling is about the courage to fulfill the curiosity of other things outside.

Big gratitude for you who are still reading even to this phrase, I do appreciate your time. I’m sorry for the ultra loooong story I made here, it’s because like I told you guys in my social networking site, I had no more room on my carrier to grant all of your wishes of souvenirs, therefore, here I gave my time to write for you because my souvenirs are my stories. :)
